NSK is expected to begin full-scale operations in fiscal 2027 of a system that uses アールティ's quadruped robots to automatically conduct patrol inspections of heat-treatment furnaces at its Fujisawa Plant. Following early-stage trials, the company is considering external sales in fiscal 2028.
NSK has announced plans to begin operating a factory inspection system using quadruped robots made by アールティ in fiscal 2027. The company will automate patrol inspections of heat-treatment furnaces at its Fujisawa Plant and record and monitor operating conditions using AI cameras.
The trial began in June this year. Hardware and software updates for the robots are being carried out approximately once a month, while work is proceeding to improve the strength of the units and adapt their operation to tasks such as climbing and descending stairs and travelling through narrow passageways. The proof of concept is scheduled for completion by the end of October.
NSK announced a business partnership with ARTI in 2025 and established a robotics division in 2026. It has begun collaborating with Delta Electronics and アトム and is pursuing a “physical AI” strategy in which AI autonomously controls robots.
アールティ plans to expand cooperation with companies in Japan and overseas and establish a stable supply system for its robots, with a view to expanding collaboration from fiscal 2022 onward.
