コクヨ has opened the newly built, state-of-the-art Tohoku IDC logistics hub in Izumi-ku, Sendai, Miyagi Prefecture, and will begin full-scale operations in November. The company unveiled Hitachi's material-handling controls and the HaiPick Climb System for the first time and is expanding its delivery network and resource-recycling initiatives.
On 13 October 2026, コクヨ held the opening ceremony for the newly built, state-of-the-art Tohoku IDC logistics hub in Aketō 3-chome, Izumi-ku, Sendai, Miyagi Prefecture. Full-scale operations at the facility will begin on 30 November.
コクヨ management and Sendai city officials attended the ceremony, where a demonstration was held of the HaiPick Climb System material-handling control system, marking its first full-scale implementation in Japan. With the launch of Tohoku IDC, the same-day delivery area for Kaunet is expected to expand to all of Sendai, while the number of product codes handled is expected to increase compared with existing facilities.
From an environmental perspective, the facility is promoting the adoption of folding containers and pallets made from recycled plastic collected through Kaunet Loopla's resource-recycling initiative. This will also contribute to resource recycling across the コクヨ Group. The facility has approximately 15,000 tsubo of total floor area and approximately 7,000 tsubo of leased floor area, is 4 storeys high, was completed in February 2026 and is scheduled to begin operations on 30 November.
