Former PSS president Tajima Shuji (田島秀二) has transferred to UBR, where he is stepping up research and development of automated equipment for experiments and clinical testing. PSS is expected to return to profitability in the fiscal year ending June 2026.
Tajima Shuji (田島秀二), former president of Precision System Science (PSS), and others have begun moving to Universal Bio Research (UBR), a former subsidiary of PSS, where they will focus exclusively on research and development of equipment that automates experiments and clinical testing. The move by Tajima Shuji (田島秀二) and others is seen as an effort to establish UBR as a new development hub.
PSS develops and sells equipment including immunochemiluminescence analyzers and automated equipment for PCR testing, and significantly increased its earnings during the spread of COVID-19. However, sales in Japan and overseas declined as the pandemic subsided, and the company moved into the red.
Tajima Shuji (田島秀二)'s efforts to rebuild the business are seen as intended both to restore PSS's financial position and to create new opportunities for its engineers.
The move to UBR and the launch of full-scale development of automated equipment have been reported as part of a reorganization of the group’s businesses.
