From 30 September 2026, NTT DATA will begin providing approximately 2,000 new mobile payment terminals to 416 EDION stores. Customers will be able to complete checkout in consultation areas, and the terminals will support contactless payments with affiliated cards.
NTT DATA will provide EDION with approximately 2,000 new ADAPTIS mobile payment terminals and announced that deployment will begin on 30 September 2026. The rollout will cover 416 EDION stores, moving checkout to consultation areas within the stores.
The new terminals will support contactless payments with affiliated cards that include EDION membership and points services. This will enable checkout encompassing not only card payments but also the awarding and redemption of points linked to customer membership information.
By using NTT DATA's payment platform, the system will provide a contactless payment environment suited to store operations while reducing the development burden on the POS application side. One terminal can connect to multiple tablet POS systems, allowing checkout at various locations within a store while limiting the number of terminals required.
NTT DATA plans to expand provision to companies such as department stores, shopping centres and specialty retailers that need to link customer-service and checkout locations flexibly, supporting improvements in store DX and the purchasing experience through ADAPTIS.
