HASEKO Corporation has developed a new construction method, the “RC × Timber Hybrid Slab Construction Method,” combining reinforced-concrete floor slabs with timber, and says it can provide sound insulation equivalent to a 200 mm reinforced-concrete floor.
HASEKO Corporation announced the “RC × Timber Hybrid Slab Construction Method,” which combines timber with reinforced-concrete floors. The method combines a 150 mm-thick reinforced-concrete floor slab with timber components, retaining reinforced concrete’s fire-resistance and structural performance while using timber to enhance sound insulation and thermal insulation.
The timber components are used as both formwork and finish materials, and are expected to reduce environmental impact and the weight of floor slabs. Verification of the basic performance has been completed, and application to detailed design is under consideration.
The method is scheduled for adoption in part of the office floors of the mixed-use facility “(provisional name) Honcho Plan, Naka Ward, Yokohama.” The project is planned for completion in January 2029.
