Prime Minister Anutin of Thailand held talks with former Prime Minister Fumio Kishida (岸田 文雄) at the Prime Minister’s Office. The talks were prompted by Thailand’s intention to promote electric vehicle production domestically, and both sides shared a commitment to prioritizing the development of EV-related industries.
The Thai government explained the increase in imported EVs in the domestic market. In light of this situation, the Japanese side pointed to continued cooperation in areas including the development of decarbonization technologies.
Anutin (アヌティン) praised Japan for having played an important role in the development of Thailand’s automotive industry. Kishida (岸田) expressed the view that Japan and Thailand should deepen their relations and cited cooperation on decarbonization technologies as a specific area of collaboration.
After the talks, Kishida (岸田) posted on his X account, formerly Twitter: “In the face of an increasingly uncertain global situation, I look forward to further deepening Japan-Thailand relations.”
