The Liberal Democratic Party's Diet Members' League for the Promotion of Water Supply and Sewerage Services held its first general meeting at LDP headquarters on 30 September and was formally launched. House of Representatives member Norihisa Tamura (田村憲久) was elected chair.

The league was formed by merging the Diet Members' League for the Promotion of Water Supply Services and the Diet Members' League for the Promotion of Sewerage Services, which had previously operated separately.
