CW-X marks the 35th anniversary of the launch of its original model in 1991 and has grown as wearable conditioning wear that provides taping functionality simply by being worn. To mark the anniversary, its developers discuss the brand’s history and future, while upcoming developments and commemorative events are also introduced.
CW-X marks the 35th anniversary of the launch of its original model in 1991 and has grown around its proprietary taping principle, incorporating functions that support the hip joints and knees into its clothing. Following advances in materials and sewing technology, it now offers a diverse lineup for both men and women.
The development of CW-X has depended on the Wacoal Human Science Research and Development Center’s long-term accumulation of data and fitting processes. Drawing on experience designing socks and bras, the company repeatedly makes millimetre-level adjustments, thoroughly eliminating shifting and discomfort before commercialisation.
The brand translates the taping principle into “wearable clothing” and is expanding the concept of conditioning so that it can be applied to everyday movement. It plans to broaden adoption in daily life through new products such as wrist supports and the launch of 35th-anniversary T-shirts.
Over its 35-year history, CW-X has continued to evolve while preserving its craftsmanship based on an understanding of the human body, including through weight reduction, improved breathability and the introduction of high-performance materials. As conditioning wear, the brand continues efforts to reduce the physical burden of work and everyday life.
