A drone demonstration project for bear control was conducted on 29 October 2026 at the former Fujisato Junior High School in Fujisato, Akita Prefecture. The demonstration involved a consortium comprising エアロネクスト, NEXT DELIVERY, CHANGE Holdings and 東光コンピュータ・サービス.
The main elements of the demonstration were patrols by logistics drones, checks of simulated targets, transmission of location data and images, on-site checks by rapid-response drones, and operational testing through remote control. The drones used were AirTruck and Matrice 4T. No deliveries were conducted.
The project features a dual-operation and triple-use operating design. It aims to limit new investment by using existing flight-operation infrastructure, while expanding the model across Akita Prefecture and to municipalities nationwide. The demonstration also tested operations including on-site checks by rapid-response drones and notifications of early detection.
Going forward, the parties plan to consider applying accumulated data to the practical implementation of bear-control measures and as a model for resolving regional issues, while expanding drone technology into other fields, including disaster management and wildlife control.
