Komeito's Central Executive Council will recommend Okamoto Mitsunari (岡本 三成) as its new representative. He will formally take office at the party convention on 3 October and launch a new leadership team. The personnel overhaul follows his return to the party from the Centrist Reform Coalition.
At its Central Executive Council meeting on the 30th, Komeito decided to recommend Okamoto Mitsunari (岡本 三成) as the person from whom the party's representative will change from Takeya Toshiko (竹谷 とし子) to Okamoto Mitsunari (岡本 三成).
Okamoto has returned to Komeito from the Centrist Reform Coalition, and the party is overhauling its leadership after the planned merger between that group and another party fell through.
Okamoto has served as chair of the policy research councils of Komeito and the Centrist Reform Coalition, and has advocated introducing a government-backed fund. The new leadership team is scheduled to be formally launched at the party convention on 3 October.
The details were disclosed by Secretary-General Nishida Masahito (西田 実仁) at a press conference. Okamoto's formal appointment and the launch of the new structure are expected to be key issues for the party's future management.
