ジンズホールディングス released its earnings summary for the fiscal year ended August 2026. Revenue increased year on year, while operating profit declined. The expansion of its overseas operations and enhancement of high-value-added products are expected to be key areas of focus.
ジンズホールディングス released its earnings summary for the fiscal year ended August 2026 (Japanese GAAP, consolidated), reporting revenue of ¥111.2 billion, up 14.4% year on year, and operating profit of ¥11.45 billion, down 5.3%. Revenue growth for the full year is presented alongside sluggish profit growth, with revenue also expected to increase in the fiscal year ending August 2027, while operating profit is forecast to remain broadly flat.
The decline in profitability in the Japan business is reportedly attributable to growth investment and a deterioration in gross margin. Improving margins alongside growth in domestic revenue is cited as a challenge.
As overseas expansion progresses, stores have been opened in Taiwan and China. The company is reportedly operating 591 stores in Japan and 287 overseas. While the shift toward high-value-added products in the eyewear business and the introduction of high-performance lenses are receiving positive recognition, the increase in store-opening costs has also been cited as pushing up fixed costs.
Going forward, improvements are reportedly needed not only in average customer spend, but also in gross margin by product, operating profit margins at existing stores and sales per store. Strengthening operations to translate brand strength and product development capabilities into profitability is cited as a challenge.
