In JAL’s results for the first quarter of the fiscal year ending March 2027, its leading full-service carrier business swung to a loss, while its full-year forecast and dividend forecast remained unchanged. The shareholder-benefit record date is 30 September, and shareholders holding 200 or more shares are eligible for discount coupons, among other conditions.
In the consolidated results for the first quarter of the fiscal year ending March 2027, revenue was ¥527.3 billion, EBIT was ¥12.7 billion and net income was ¥5.3 billion, representing substantial declines in profit. The main factor was a sharp increase in fuel costs, which rose 58.4% from ¥94.0 billion in the same period last year to ¥148.8 billion.
Demand itself, however, has not declined, and earnings power on a per-unit basis has strengthened. International passenger yield rose to ¥19.6 per kilometre, while domestic passenger yield increased to ¥20.7. The full-year forecast remains unchanged at revenue of ¥295 billion, EBIT of ¥180 billion and net income of ¥110 billion, and demand growth from the second quarter onward is expected in light of seasonal factors.
Shareholder benefits are available to holders of 200 or more shares based on the 30 September record date, with the main benefit being shareholder discount coupons offering a 50% discount on one one-way domestic flight segment on any route. JAL has also begun awarding eJAL Points, with the number of points determined by the number of shares held.
JAL’s share price was ¥3,065 on 18 September. Its PER was reported at 11.98 times, its PBR at 1.23 times and its forecast dividend yield at 3.13%.
