Nitori Holdings migrated its core system to Oracle Cloud Infrastructure and used Oracle Exadata Database Service to improve the performance of key processes by up to 4 times. It also significantly shortened the completion time for overnight processing.
Nitori Holdings migrated the core system supporting store sales and delivery operations to OCI, adopting Oracle Exadata Database Service for its database infrastructure and Oracle Cloud VMware Solution for its application platform. Oracle Data Guard is used for data synchronization, and a disaster recovery environment has been built across Oracle Cloud’s Tokyo and Osaka regions.
Following the migration, the performance of key processes improved by up to approximately 4 times compared with the legacy environment. Daily demand forecast calculations, which previously took just under 6 hours from start to finish, were shortened to 1.5 hours. Database wait events also decreased, enabling more stable operations. DR switchover operation time was reduced from 12 hours to 3 hours.
In terms of cost, operating costs were held to approximately 80% of the initial estimate, also helping prevent incidents caused by insufficient performance during the spring demand season. SCSK and Assist were responsible for driving the project and providing technical support.
Nitori Holdings’ CIO explained that OCI and Exadata Database Service were highly regarded for their performance, scalability, stability and cost efficiency. The CIO also indicated that the company plans to use the shorter processing times and stable operation of large-scale workloads following the migration as a foundation for future growth.
