The Nikkei VI, the Nikkei Stock Average Volatility Index, fell sharply, while concerns about elevated crude oil prices and U.S. long-term interest rates continued during trading, and Nikkei 225 futures opened higher.
The Nikkei VI, the Nikkei Stock Average Volatility Index, fell sharply by 5.33 points, or 19.60%, from the previous day to 21.86. The high was 28.54 and the low was 21.86, with the index fluctuating during the day. Nikkei 225 futures opened higher today. The rise in the SOX Index in the U.S. stock market provided support for the market.
Meanwhile, elevated crude oil futures prices in overseas markets and rising long-term interest rates in Japan and overseas spread concerns about increased volatility. As a result, the Nikkei VI held at a certain level during trading before turning sharply lower toward the end of the session.
