Cunning Takeyama (カンニング竹山) visited UT Aim, part of UT Group, introducing the reality of the “professional team” supporting the semiconductor industry, as well as its training system for people with no prior experience and its end-to-end outsourcing of testing processes.
UT Group provides human resources services, mainly for the manufacturing industry, and has assembled at UT Aim a “professional team” with many years of hands-on experience in the semiconductor field. An initiative was introduced in which UT Aim draws on the expertise it has built up over many years at semiconductor sites to handle the entire process, from inspection and verification through to productisation.
The expansion of demand driven by the spread of generative AI, along with investment by the government and companies, was cited as a background to the semiconductor market’s strong performance. It was explained that there is an initiative aiming for more than ¥50 trillion in combined public- and private-sector domestic investment over the next 10 years. By taking responsibility for a series of processes, including testing, UT Aim is working to resolve challenges at production sites.
In the semiconductor industry, where labour shortages continue, low awareness among potential workers was cited as an issue. UT Aim is using its “professional team” with hands-on experience to shift from providing staffing services alone to taking responsibility for entire processes.
UT Group is also focusing on education and training at production sites, and has established a system to train people with no prior experience to become engineers. The program was introduced as a process in which participants first learn the basics at an education centre and then acquire technical skills through practical work.
