The collection exhibition “Find the ○○! — A Grand Search for the Invisible! —” will be held at the Takahama City Yakimono no Sato Kawara Museum & Library from 28 November to 14 February 2027. The exhibition will feature displays that help visitors find clues for viewing the works, along with related programs including tactile graphics, quizzes and events.
This exhibition invites visitors to imagine invisible events from visible things and enjoy the process. It is organized into 3 chapters and features a total of 25 works: 5 oil paintings, 4 prints and 16 photographs. Featured artists include Ando Kanei (安藤幹衛), Inoue Hiromichi (井上博道) and Kawase Hasui (川瀬巴水). The works can be appreciated through viewing clues such as signs of nature, the expansion of space, and signs of life.
As Point 1, panels introducing viewing clues are displayed alongside the works, while the character Kawaraccho poses questions and suggests ways of looking at them. Chapter 1 is “Search for Signs of Nature,” Chapter 2 is “Search for the Expansion of Space,” and Chapter 3 is “Search for Ways of Life and Relationships.” Photographs and illustrations are also displayed at the venue.
Point 2 features related programs designed to provide new insights. A tactile-graphics display will be available at various times throughout the exhibition period, allowing not only visitors with visual impairments but everyone to touch the works and deepen their appreciation. A mini-quiz, “I Found the ○○!”, will also be held at various times throughout the exhibition in a special exhibition room, with the type of postcard distributed changing each month.
Point 3 features numerous events designed to expand the ways visitors can enjoy the exhibition. These include the murder mystery “A Challenge from Writer Koshio Kei (越尾圭)” (held on 5 and 19 December; advance registration required), a roof-tile rubbing experience, roof-tile paperweight making, and a space-and-contact performance on 7 February. The puzzle-solving program “The Mystery of the Kawachiyo Treasure Map” will also be held at various times during the exhibition. In addition, a collaboration menu developed with local businesses will be available as an extra quiz.
