Domestic manufacturers are advancing the development of semi-humanoids, while ugo has unveiled ugo Nova and emphasized that its design and manufacturing are entirely domestic. Fuzikoshi is also promoting a mechanically focused robot designed for durability in factories, while Keigan’s autonomous mobile robots are being used at nearly 200 factories through the use of motor modules.
As efforts advance the digital transformation of on-site operations such as security, inspections and guidance, ugo has unveiled a new semi-humanoid, “ugo Nova.” The company has developed and manufactured it entirely in Japan and is promoting a system that records work movements remotely controlled by people using controllers or VR and uses them as data.
Fuzikoshi is developing robots with a focus on mobility and durability in factories, indicating a direction aimed at improving practical on-site performance. AI development is described as starting from scratch, with development beginning in April and reaching the completion of a prototype.
Keigan, which uses motor modules, is developing autonomous mobile robots. It uses different motor modules in the shoulders and wrists, and is automating transport operations with a proprietary algorithm combining multiple obstacle sensors and map data. The robots are currently deployed at approximately 200 factories. The company is also promoting open-source development to make the robots themselves easier to design, assemble and repair.
These developments are viewed as efforts to strengthen robot development in Japan and promote technologies that improve practical on-site performance. Attention is focused on progress toward commercialization and the pace of adoption.
