Market research firm Market Research Center has released a report covering the market size and growth trends of Japan's electronics market from 2026 to 2035.
Japan's electronics market is projected to grow from US$116.15 billion in 2025 to US$176.46 billion in 2035, with a compound annual growth rate of 4.3%. The market covered includes both consumer and industrial applications and is expected to grow primarily in high-value-added areas such as semiconductors and electronic components, AI and robotics, smart factories, and automotive electronics.
While consumer electronics remains a core source of demand, future growth is expected to broaden steadily across industrial electronics, semiconductors, sensors, control systems and other fields. Government initiatives such as Society 5.0, along with investment in 5G and AI, are also described as supporting commercialization.
As examples of corporate and government investment trends, the report cites Rapidus' development of a 2-nanometer-class semiconductor production facility in Hokkaido, with the company working with IBM and imec to pursue advanced manufacturing, as well as TSMC's plans to expand production capacity in Kumamoto in collaboration with Sony Semiconductor Solutions, Denso and Toyota. Micron Technology is also advancing investment related to DRAM and next-generation HBM in Hiroshima, supporting the view that Japan is once again becoming an important investment destination across multiple fields.
