Toyota Motor Corporation to produce driverless taxi vehicles for Waymo entirely at its Takaoka Plant. Meta and Fourier prototyped the humanoid robot Max in about 3 months, while Amazon set an $80 billion lending facility secured by purchased equipment.
Toyota Motor Corporation will handle everything from assembly of driverless taxi vehicles based on the EV “bZ4X” for US-based Waymo to installation of autonomous-driving equipment at its Takaoka Plant in Toyota City. The company plans to begin initial operations in Japan in 2027 and subsequently roll out the vehicles sequentially in the UK and other markets where Waymo operates.
Waymo raised $16 billion in 2025 and has indicated that, after evaluating vehicle safety and reliability, it plans to make Toyota vehicles the core of its supply base and expand vehicle demand in line with its expansion into additional cities.
Meta Platforms and China’s Fourier reportedly prototyped the humanoid robot “Max” in about 3 months, and Meta is proceeding with development of a production unit intended to incorporate its household AI agent “Muse.” The initiative is said to aim to create a platform for robot development.
