Fujikura's results for the first quarter of the fiscal year ending March 2027 showed substantial increases in revenue and profit, driven by growing demand for optical components for data centers, and its full-year outlook was revised upward.
According to a summary of Fujikura's first-quarter earnings report for the fiscal year ending March 2027, revenue rose 50.1% year on year to ¥402 billion, operating profit increased 155.1% to ¥104.8 billion, and profit attributable to owners of the parent rose 156.8% to ¥80.4 billion. Profit growth substantially outpaced revenue growth.
The Information and Communications segment was the main driver. In addition to growing demand for optical component products for data centers, a large volume of orders for new projects outside the United States contributed to the result. The Electronics segment, however, reported declines in both revenue and profit due to changes in the product mix for smartphones and higher material costs.
On the balance sheet, total assets increased to approximately ¥1.0707 trillion from the end of the previous consolidated fiscal year, reflecting increases in trade receivables and inventories. Interest-bearing debt increased due to higher short-term borrowings and the newly recorded ¥20 billion in commercial paper. Net assets rose to ¥641.6 billion as retained earnings accumulated.
The full-year consolidated forecasts call for revenue of ¥1.755 trillion, operating profit of ¥432 billion, and profit attributable to owners of the parent of ¥326 billion, representing substantial upward revisions. The forecast for the cumulative six months through the second quarter is also expected to remain at a high level. The planned dividend is ¥38 per share, based on the post-April stock split.
