Trial Company has filed plans for a new supermarket center exceeding 4,200 m² in Arakawaoki, Tsuchiura, Ibaraki Prefecture. The opening date is 25 May 2027, and competition is expected to arise in areas including non-food products.
The largest project among the filings confirmed this week is the planned Supercenter Trial Arakawaoki store (provisional name) to be opened by トライアルカンパニー in Tsuchiura, Ibaraki Prefecture. The total store floor area is listed as 4,200 m², with an opening date of 25 May 2027. The planned site is east of Arakawaoki Station on the JR Joban Line, with nearby stores operated by エコス, カスミ, ベイシア and ジャパンミート. In non-food products, the store is expected to compete with the long-established Joyful Honda Arakawaoki store.
The next-largest planned store by sales floor area is Maruetsu's new Minamirinkan store in Yamato, Kanagawa Prefecture. The store is scheduled to open on 11 May 2027 and will have a floor area of 1,297 m². The site is in 1-chome Minamirinkan, near Minamirinkan Station on the Odakyu Enoshima Line. The surrounding area is densely residential, and existing operators including ユーコープ and OdakyuOX are already present, making the competitive environment increasingly challenging.
In Susono, Shizuoka Prefecture, マキヤ has filed plans for a two-building retail complex, with Building A measuring 2,419 m² and Building B 1,423 m², for a combined 3,842 m². The planned site is near Susono Station on the JR Gotemba Line. As a combined retail hub offering fresh food, daily necessities and discount products, it could affect the local commercial environment.
Elsewhere, a 2,281 m² コメリPRO湯川店 is planned in Hakodate, Hokkaido, while a group of stores totaling approximately 3,717 m² is planned as a retail complex in Matsumoto, Nagano. Drugstore operators are also planning new stores in Tochigi, Niigata, Shizuoka and Ehime, among other prefectures, while 薬王堂 plans to expand into Tochigi, Aichi and Kumamoto, among other areas.
