新潟交通 has organized a tour titled “Complete Tour of the Former 新潟交通 Electric Railway Line: Exploring the Railway with the Chairman of the Kabocha Train Preservation Society.” The tour is scheduled to travel by bus around sites including the former railway line operated by 新潟交通. It will depart from Niigata Bus Center and head toward the Tsubame-Sanjo Regional Industries Promotion Center, passing along the way by the Bandai Silver Hotel and Bandai Bridge. The vehicle used will be the “Kabocha Train Bus II,” designed to resemble a train formerly operated on the electric railway line, and the chairman of the preservation society will accompany the tour as instructor. Lunch is scheduled to be served at the Bandai Silver Hotel, and participants will also be able to view and photograph preserved rolling stock at the former Tsukigata Station.
The tour price is ¥19,800, and 26 places are available. Applications will be accepted through the travel website “新潟交通の旅 くれよん.” The 新潟交通 electric railway line was a 36.1-kilometre route connecting Tsubame Station with Hakusanmae Station via Tsukigata, Shirone and Higashi-Sekiya. Its sections were discontinued between 1992 and 1999.
