Japan Nuclear Fuel announced its policy of presenting a new schedule through completion by year-end for the used nuclear fuel reprocessing plant in Rokkasho Village. The company said that, depending on the status of the Nuclear Regulation Authority’s review meeting on the 2nd of next month, it expects to be able to present a highly accurate schedule.
Japan Nuclear Fuel President Masuda Naohiro (増田尚宏) expressed his intention to present a new schedule for the reprocessing plant in Rokkasho Village by year-end at a regular press conference on the 25th.
Although it will depend on the outcome of the review meeting on the 2nd of next month, he stated that the company currently believes it should announce a new schedule by year-end, and said that it would be able to present a schedule with a high degree of accuracy and certainty through the review process.
Japan Nuclear Fuel aims to complete the plant during fiscal 2026, but Governor Miyashita (宮下) has also called for the presentation of a highly feasible new schedule that takes into account the impact of future inspections and procedures.
