A serial feature has begun in which Kazama Fukashi (風間 深志) travels across Mongolia's great steppes on a battered motorcycle. The project has revealed plans to plant trees in gratitude to the land at the start of the journey, together with a support system involving local mechanics responsible for safety.
The prologue, designated Episode 0, reports that the adventure will begin with tree planting to express gratitude to the Mongolian land before departure, followed by preparing the motorcycle. Note 1 introduces the tree-planting activities of NPO Earth Genkimura, with バイク王&カンパニー of Japan listed as a sponsor. The travelling companion is a battered motorcycle, and the local expert mechanic Batusufu Choijamutsu (バトスフ・チョイジャムツ) will be dispatched. The arrangement is for the machine to undergo maintenance every evening and depart the following morning fully prepared.
Episode 0 emphasises the view that safety and peace of mind are the foundation of any adventure, and the importance of enjoying nature's appeal and challenges with confidence. The overall journey is planned as a 6-part series travelling across Mongolia's great steppes, exploring the relationship between nature and people while moving through trackless terrain.
The chapters from Episode 1 onward are expected to depict the experience of following grassland tracks and discovering “roads” and “freedom” amid landscapes of gers, rivers and hills. The series is expected to explore coexistence with nature and its relationship with modern civilisation, following themes such as the lives of herders encountered in the morning sunlight and ways of protecting the natural environment.
The final episode, Episode 5, aims to complete the full journey of approximately 630km, including a 62–75km itinerary, with ending the trip safely alongside fellow travellers positioned as the true goal of the adventure.
