Changes to booster products for 2027 have been announced, including the introduction of God Packs starting with Noktis: Deepwater City, revisions to foil treatments, the expansion of Japan Showcase versions, and the removal of foil commons and uncommons. Prices are expected to remain unchanged.
Changes to Magic: The Gathering's booster products for 2027 have been announced to improve the unboxing experience. A new feature called the God Pack will be introduced across all sets. Starting with Noktis: Deepwater City, 1 in every 1,000 Play Boosters will contain 14 cards that are all rares or mythic rares. The same configuration will apply to 1 in every 300 Collector Boosters.
Opportunities to find foil cards in boosters will also be expanded, with foil Japan Showcase cards beginning to appear in booster packs as well. Accordingly, 2 commons and 1 uncommon will be removed from the foil slots in Collector Boosters, limiting foil cards to rares and mythic rares. In addition, the name will change from Play Booster to Booster Pack, simplifying the purchasing experience.
Booster product prices are expected to remain unchanged. The changes prioritize improving the unboxing experience, with a trade-off involving the securing of printing capacity. A policy of maintaining sufficient spare printing capacity was outlined to enable the introduction of God Packs alongside the inclusion of Japan Showcase cards. Questions will also be answered on Discord going forward, with the overall aim of making each pack opened a more meaningful experience.
