Lawson announced that it would cut the prices of all hand-wrapped rice balls by a uniform ¥10. The cuts will take effect on 29 September and will cover at least 3 products, including Sea Chicken Mayonnaise.
As consumption has declined amid a long-term rise in retail rice prices, Lawson decided to uniformly cut the prices of all hand-wrapped rice balls to support sales of foods made with rice, without changing the prices individually. President Takemasu Sadanobu (竹増 貞信) explained the background as an effort to protect rice consumption. As a result, the prices of hand-wrapped rice balls in stores will be uniformly reduced.
The revision will take effect on 29 September and will cover several hand-wrapped rice balls, including the standard Sea Chicken Mayonnaise, Aged Kishu Nanko Plum and Hidaka Kombu products. It will be implemented by lowering only the prices without changing the specifications or quality.
