Approximately 56 participants, including para-motorcyclists and deaf riders, and approximately 180 volunteers rode along the same Hakone Turnpike route regardless of disability status. The event was held with the cooperation of the Odawara Police Station motorcycle unit and the Self-Defense Forces as an initiative symbolising an inclusive society.
The fifth edition of Let’s Do It!! Hakone Turnpike 2026 was held on Saturday, 17 October 2026, at Anest Iwata Hakone Turnpike in Kanagawa Prefecture. A total of 56 riders took part, including 13 para-motorcyclists, 3 deaf riders, and general and guest riders. Approximately 180 volunteer staff members participated, and the event concluded successfully with support from a range of cooperating organisations.
The event’s defining feature was riders with and without disabilities riding together. With the cooperation of the Odawara Police Station motorcycle unit and the Self-Defense Forces, people from different backgrounds were able to ride along the same road. SSP’s guiding principle is “Rather than looking for what cannot be done, look for what can be done.” The organisation aims to promote social participation by expanding its activities from motorcycle experience rides to touring on public roads.
SSP received a Cabinet Office award in 2025 and another award in 2026. Going forward, it plans to expand para-motorcycle experience-riding events across Japan and promote understanding through school education and community events. The event overview listed the name, date, venue, organiser, riding participants, number of volunteers and cooperating organisations, and also referred to future plans.
The event was presented as an ongoing initiative aimed at promoting inclusive mobility and as part of efforts to build a society in which people with and without disabilities work together to take on challenges.
