船場 released a special issue themed around liberating space. The project features six photographers reinterpreting spaces such as commercial facilities and production sites from their own perspectives.
Design magazine AXIS published a special issue on 船場, SEMBA NEW STATEMENT: Liberating Space, on 5 October. The project is intended to go beyond the conventional role of spatial design, with six photographers each reconsidering space from their own perspective around the theme of liberating space.
The six participants are Ando Rumi (安藤瑠美), Kanemoto Rintaro (金本凜太朗), Kusano Yoko (草野庸子), Kobayashi Kenta (小林健太), Komiyama Shun (小見山峻) and Hamamoto Kanade (濵本奏). They will present works set at locations including the Wolfgang Steakhouse Takanawa location, the Suntory Tennensui Northern Alps Shinano-no-Mori Plant and KAWAII MONSTER LAND in Harajuku.
To mark the publication, the photography exhibition “Liberating Space” was held at Spiral in Omotesando, Tokyo, from 2 to 4 October, with a launch reception held the previous day. 船場 President Odagiri Jun (小田切潤) also referred to transformation in the third generation, indicating the company’s intention to reconsider and embody the essential value of space.
A talk session was held during the event with the photographers, Hiraki Terumasa (平木輝正) of the AXIS editorial team and Maruyama Tomoko (丸山朋子), General Manager of 船場’s Brand Strategy Department. The participants discussed the value created by differences in perspective.
