Tokyo stocks posted only a slight rebound in the morning session on the 25th. The Nikkei 225 edged higher around its morning closing level, while selling in some semiconductor stocks capped gains.
The Nikkei 225 rose ¥70.59 from the previous day to ¥65,598.68 at the morning close, posting a slight rebound. The TOPIX was at 4,086.73, up 13.44 points. The market briefly turned lower amid weakness in US technology stocks, but recovered as investors bought on dips. Trading volume was in the 900 million-share range, while trading value was ¥3.5309 trillion.
By sector, nonferrous metals, insurance and marine transportation stocks rose. Transport equipment, rubber products and machinery stocks, meanwhile, fell at times. Some semiconductor-related stocks were sold, and there were indications that declines in large-cap stocks such as Advantest and Tokyo Electron weighed on the Nikkei 225.
