Tokyo Startup Law Office signed a memorandum of understanding with Briddge Legal & Finance on 19 June 2026 and announced plans to establish a support framework for cross-border transactions between Japan and Europe. The two firms will jointly support Japanese companies expanding into Europe and European companies entering Japan.
As background to the partnership, the parties noted that Japanese companies expanding into European markets have growing practical needs during the operational phase, including establishing local entities and addressing employment, labour and tax matters, while the Japanese market is becoming increasingly important to European companies' Asia strategies. The two firms faced the challenge of increased coordination burdens caused by separate points of contact. They therefore agreed to establish a framework linking points of contact in Japan and Europe.
The transaction-support partnership will promote joint marketing activities, including introducing clients to each other and coordinating transactions, sharing information and practical expertise, issuing seminars, webinars and joint reports, and jointly participating in business-matching events. Each firm will provide services independently and assume responsibility as an independent operator in its respective jurisdiction.
Going forward, the parties will strengthen their framework for handling legal, financial and labour matters in Japan and Europe. In Japan, Tokyo Startup Law Office will serve as the point of contact and handle matters including entity formation, employment contracts, fundraising, M&A and intellectual property, as well as local accounting, tax and residence-status matters. In Europe, Briddge will serve as the local point of contact and provide integrated support across EU countries for incorporation, employment law, payroll, work visas, EOR and tax filings.
