Applied Intuition announced on 5 October 2026 that it would work with Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. to support the development of AI-defined vehicles (AIDVs) using Vehicle OS software. The initiative is intended to accelerate Nissan's AI-driven vehicle development and develop an open, scalable platform.
According to the company, the combination of Vehicle OS and AI-native development tools is intended to modernise software workflows and enable a common platform spanning multiple powertrains. An executive in Nissan's SDV engineering division said the company highly values Applied Intuition's technical capabilities and track record.
The collaboration builds on an expanded relationship dating back to 2020. Following initiatives including a LEAF-based demo at AWS Summit Japan and the use of simulation technology, the companies plan to expand their focus to Vehicle OS and AI-native software development. Applied Intuition has showcased demonstrations of real-time software updates and OTA deployment.
Nissan has set out its long-term vision, "Mobility Intelligence for Everyday Life," centred on AI-defined vehicles, and has indicated that it will pursue vehicle development integrating AI Drive and AI Partner around AIDVs. The company says it will advance the introduction of an SDV platform in fiscal 2026 and enable the continuous evolution of its vehicles.
