Ito En and Oji Holdings Corporation have launched an initiative to separate used kraft bags laminated with polyethylene, recover the paper fibers and recycle them as raw material for corrugated board. The bags are used to transport tea leaves at the Shizuoka Plant, with the initiative covering approximately 20 tonnes annually.
Ito En’s Shizuoka Plant has launched an initiative to recycle kraft bags laminated with polyethylene that are used to transport tea leaves, using the Oji Group’s recycling system. The initiative aims to recover the paper fibers and repurpose them as raw material for corrugated board.
The initiative uses the Oji Group’s corporate partnership recycling system “Renewa,” a technology that separates polyethylene and other materials from difficult-to-process waste paper to recover the paper fibers.
