Nishi-Nippon Railroad Co.,Ltd., ニモカ and Sumitomo Mitsui Card announced that they entered into a comprehensive partnership agreement on 16 October 2026 covering the promotion of cashless payments and data utilization. The agreement aims to improve the convenience of regional transportation and support community development through the use of data.
As a key initiative under the agreement, the companies plan to fully roll out fare payment with “stera transit” on vehicles operated by the Nishitetsu Group and expand the number of vehicles in the Fukuoka metropolitan area by fiscal 2028. This is expected to reduce the burden of handling cash and create a more seamless mobility environment.
A new credit card, the “nimocle card,” is also scheduled to be issued. In addition to improving the convenience of nimoca, the companies are considering awarding Nishitetsu shopping points. They also plan to introduce a nimoca charging app, which is expected to improve convenience through linked charging services.
Sumitomo Mitsui Card will promote data utilization by combining payment data with Nishi-Nippon Railroad’s transport data, with the aim of advancing digital transformation in regional transportation and generating demand. The companies said they will use data analysis and AI to improve services along the railway lines and advance community development.
