Nomura Micro Science cut its first-half operating profit forecast from ¥3.6 billion to ¥1.13 billion. The timing of an order for a large-scale water treatment equipment project in the United States was pushed back to the second half, while higher costs for a South Korean project were cited as background factors.
Nomura Micro Science announced last week that it would cut its first-half operating profit forecast. The new forecast was reduced from the previous ¥3.6 billion to ¥1.13 billion.
The new figure represents a substantial decline from the same period of the previous fiscal year. The reasons for the downward revision include the expected delay until the second half in the timing of an order for a large-scale water treatment equipment project in the United States, as well as higher costs for a South Korean project.
The full-year operating profit forecast remains unchanged. However, given the company's strong positioning as a semiconductor-related company, some view it as prone to a stronger negative reaction to a short-term earnings shortfall.
