NYK Line announced first-quarter revenue and net profit, upwardly revised its earnings outlook for the second quarter and full year, and indicated that it plans to raise the dividend per share to ¥120 from the previous year. The weaker yen is also said to be a contributing factor.
NYK Line announced its first-quarter results in early August 2026, reporting revenue of ¥727,656 million and net profit of ¥67,109 million. At the same time, it indicated that it planned to raise its earnings forecasts for the second quarter and full year. This suggested that favorable conditions in freight-rate and energy markets, together with the weaker yen, had lifted the company’s earnings outlook.
The company set its full-year revenue outlook at ¥2,881,000 million and profit attributable to shareholders at ¥240,000 million, reflecting an improvement in performance. Favorable conditions in container shipping, dry bulk and energy were cited as the backdrop to the specific levels set in the new forecasts.
For dividends, the company indicated that it planned to raise the per-share dividend to ¥120.00 from ¥115.00 in the year-earlier period. The increase was viewed as a move demonstrating stable capital allocation, based on the expectation that current favorable conditions would continue.
The analysis also addressed longer-term risk factors, including the impact of environmental regulations and higher fleet-related costs. However, the latest upward revision was positioned as an indication that freight-rate trends and the effects of foreign exchange movements remained relatively solid.
