Hitachi, Ltd. has become the first Japanese company to join the Tokenomics Foundation. It will participate in efforts to develop standards for evaluating the economic value of AI investments.
Hitachi, Ltd. announced that it has become the first Japanese company to join the Tokenomics Foundation, established by The Linux Foundation. The company plans to promote standardization efforts to visualize the economic value of AI and contribute to developing criteria for evaluating AI investment outcomes. In collaboration with its U.S. group company Hitachi Digital Services, Hitachi will advance standardization in AI cost management and return-on-investment evaluation.
As Agentic AI develops and multiple AI agents are increasingly operated in coordination, the rapid growth in AI token consumption has also been identified as a problem that is putting pressure on IT budgets. Standard specifications have yet to be established, and developing methods for cost management and return-on-investment evaluation remains a challenge.
The Tokenomics Foundation has indicated that it plans to work with the FinOps Foundation to establish best practices for technology value management. Hitachi will leverage this initiative to promote open-source software initiatives and standardization that support cost evaluation for cloud usage and the maximization of business value.
As part of HMAX by Hitachi, Hitachi provides HMAX AI Operations to support AI operations, enabling safe autonomous operation and the continuous monitoring and improvement of performance and costs. The company plans to incorporate Tokenomics expertise going forward to further enhance its services.
