Zeon Corporation established the new company ゼオンケミカルズ倉敷 on 23 July to transfer the acrylic rubber business owned by its subsidiary トウペ to the new company. This created a structure for the group to continue and integrate its acrylic rubber business.
On 11 May, the company announced plans to sell トウペ's coatings business to ナトコ, but decided to retain its acrylic rubber business within the group because of its strong synergies with the elastomer business. Subsequently, on 21 August, the new company and トウペ entered into an absorption-type company split agreement.
Acrylic rubber has high heat resistance and is used in automotive components such as oil seals and hoses. The Zeon Group has a total of 4 sites in Japan, the US and Thailand, establishing a global supply structure. The new company is scheduled to commence operations on 30 October.
