Hitachi, Ltd. announced a basic co-creation agreement with Germany's Agile Robots. The companies aim to develop models that serve as the brains of physical AI supporting automation at manufacturing sites. The initiative is expected to integrate Hitachi's OT with Agile Robots' AI and advance the automation of parts picking and line changeovers.
Hitachi, Ltd. reached a basic agreement with Germany's Agile Robots SE on a co-creation partnership to develop models that serve as the brains of AI robotics. The partnership will combine Hitachi's physical AI model with Agile Robots' general-purpose AI model, aiming to automate complex processes that require situational judgement.
The two companies will integrate Hitachi's edge AI semiconductors with Agile Robots' robotics technology, accelerating the practical implementation of robots that can process visual and tactile information at high speed and with low power consumption, recognise changing environments in real time, and act flexibly. Hitachi plans to roll this out globally as “HMAX Industry.”
The co-creation initiative is intended to support the autonomy of entire factories. By integrating Hitachi's OT and global customer base with Agile Robots' humanoid robot Agile ONE and platform AgileCore, the companies may establish a long-term, data-driven evolution loop. The focus will be not only on enhancing robot intelligence but also on accumulating and using data from manufacturing sites.
At the same time, challenges have been identified, including the technical hurdles involved in applying the technology at manufacturing sites and the need to strengthen support systems for global expansion. Attention will focus on how quickly the accumulated data can be used to improve accuracy and whether the companies can secure a global standard position.
