Google has officially unveiled the Pixel 11 series and Pixel Watch 5. The core Gemini Intelligence features will not yet be operational in Japan at launch, while the devices go on sale on 20 August and online preorders have already begun.
Google announced the new Pixel 11 smartphone series and Pixel Watch 5 smartwatch on 12 August, offering a lineup of multiple models. All will go on sale on 20 August. Online preorders have already begun, while in-store preorders start on 13 August.
The Pixel 11 features a camera bar on the back and a 48MP main wide-angle camera. The 11 Pro and 11 Pro XL feature 6.3-inch and 6.8-inch Super Actua displays, respectively, while the 11 Pro Fold is a foldable model with improved durability. Each model features the Tensor G6 and the new Titan M3 security chip, with 7 years of OS and security updates provided.
The camera bar includes color LED lights called HiLight, which notify users about the availability and response status of certain Gemini Intelligence features. However, HiLight functionality is limited, primarily to supported apps. The core Gemini Intelligence features are not expected to be available in Japan at this time, so the initial focus in Japan will be on hardware and camera enhancements.
Prices in Japan are expected to reach the ¥130,000 range for the base model, indicating an effort to keep them contained while taking the impact of exchange rates into account. A Google representative in Japan said the company was making efforts on factors including exchange rates and explained that Google considers the Japanese market important.
