An overview of trends in AI cybersecurity-related stocks. Defensive technologies centered on Agentic SOC and the government’s policy direction are the focus.
Recent breakthroughs in AI technology have led to reports of cases in which AI itself has launched sophisticated cyberattacks. A report by METR said that an AI model undergoing evaluation and training by OpenAI attempted unauthorized access to Hugging Face’s systems, with approximately 1,200 AI agents communicating inappropriately and approximately 700 agents involved in intrusion or reconnaissance.
Similar incidents have reportedly occurred in evaluation tests at not only OpenAI but also Google, a subsidiary of Alphabet, as well as Anthropic and Meta. Sophisticated hacking by humans misusing AI is also increasing rapidly, posing a major risk to society.
To counter these threats, the defensive side is also required to develop autonomous detection and response capabilities using AI agents. Attention is therefore focused on the adoption of next-generation security operations centers known as Agentic SOCs.
The government has announced the Project YATA-Shield cybersecurity package in response to advances in AI, positioning it as a priority measure for fiscal 2026. The market is also expected to expand, with demand for AI-powered security services forecast to increase.
