A European securities firm raised its price target for Japan Tobacco to ¥8,150. The move was attributed to the strength of first-half revenue and earnings, as well as the increase in dividend guidance.
A European securities firm raised its price target for Japan Tobacco to ¥8,150. The change was announced on 14 October.
First-half revenue was ¥1.986 trillion, up 17.70% year on year, while operating profit reached ¥64.494 million. The company raised its full-year dividend guidance to ¥272 and indicated that the interim dividend was expected to be ¥136.
The share-price outlook reflects the view that pricing power is influencing earnings more than volume, and that maintaining a certain level of pricing will be tested in the next results.
The company is scheduled to release its third-quarter results for fiscal 2026 on 29 October (Japan time), with attention also focused on whether the full-year dividend will remain unchanged and on the timing of the year-end dividend.
