The Nikkei Average ended 14 October with a fifth consecutive decline at ¥67,744.29. Buying aimed at an autonomous rebound following the previous day's decline initially led the market, but semiconductor-related stocks turned lower after ASML Holding announced its July–September 2026 results, sending the Nikkei Average down as well.
On 14 October, the Nikkei Average ended trading in the Tokyo stock market at ¥67,744.29, down ¥33.23 from the previous day, marking a fifth consecutive decline. Buying by overseas short-term investors anticipating an autonomous rebound following the previous day's decline led the market at times.
However, when ASML Holding announced its July–September 2026 results at around 2 p.m. Japan time, Tokyo Electron and Lasertec, among other semiconductor-related stocks, turned lower, at times accelerating the Nikkei Average's decline. The Nikkei Average was also affected by futures trading, and losses grew heavier toward the close.
