Ford is giving the 2027 F-150 a major overhaul. The new 3.0-liter EcoBoost V6 twin-turbo will be adopted as the core engine and is expected to replace the existing 2.7-liter unit. The naturally aspirated 5.0-liter Coyote V8 is also reportedly set to become available as an option on certain trims.
A leaked dealer order guide suggests that a major powertrain overhaul will be the biggest development for Ford's 2027 F-150. The new 3.0-liter engine is set to become the standard engine across a wide range of trims, including the XL, STX, XLT and Lariat. As the successor to the existing 2.7-liter EcoBoost V6, it is expected to deliver more than the current 325-hp level.
The return of a V8 has also been reported, with information indicating that the 5.0-liter Coyote V8 will once again be available as an option on higher trims such as the King Ranch and Platinum. This is expected to broaden the choices available to customers seeking the distinctive sound and acceleration feel of a V8.
However, the 3.0-liter engine reportedly cannot be paired with the full towing package (Tow/Haul Package). Official figures and detailed specifications will have to wait for the formal announcement.
