Nippon Seiki, the world's leading HUD maker, will acquire DENSO's HUD business, seeking to improve productivity and cost competitiveness by integrating their development and manufacturing platforms.
Nippon Seiki has entered into an agreement to acquire DENSO's head-up display (HUD) business, aiming to improve HUD production and development efficiency by combining the two companies' development and manufacturing platforms. The acquisition price has not been disclosed.
HUDs are components that project speed and navigation information onto a vehicle's windshield. Nippon Seiki currently holds the world's leading share of the HUD market, and produced approximately 2.1 million HUD units in the fiscal year ended March 2026.
DENSO's HUD business accounted for less than 1% of its total revenue, and the division's assets amounted to approximately ¥1.164 billion. Through the business transfer, the companies aim to leverage Nippon Seiki's expertise and production capacity in HUDs and contribute to the development of the industry as a whole.
The business transfer agreement was signed on 28 August 2026, and the transfer is scheduled for 26 February 2027.
