Nippon Shokubai, which aims to ensure a stable supply of ethylene oxide, said it plans to share raw materials with competitors, taking into account the restructuring of ethylene facilities and the impact of the situation in the Middle East. The company is taking concrete steps to strengthen its stable EO supply network.
Nippon Shokubai is focusing on establishing a stable supply network for ethylene oxide (EO), a raw material used in detergents. This is because the restructuring of ethylene facilities and the impact of the situation in the Middle East have created uncertainty in the procurement environment.
As the restructuring of ethylene facilities advances, 4 units in the domestic market are expected to be shut down by around 2030. Strengthening the supply system has been identified as a challenge.
President Noda Kazuhiro (野田和宏) indicated that the company would also advance the sharing of raw materials with competitors, suggesting a policy of promoting flexible cooperation on upstream materials.
