Mitsubishi Estate, Takashima and MEC Industry jointly developed KiNEMAKI, a column-protection wrap using domestically produced CLT, and are shortening construction times by assembling it on site using a dry construction method. Its first adoption is at the Logicross Misato logistics facility in Saitama, with nationwide rollout planned.
Mitsubishi Estate, Takashima and MEC Industry jointly developed KiNEMAKI, a CLT-based column-protection wrap, and began selling it on the 8th. Designed to protect steel columns at logistics facilities from impact, it uses a dry construction method in which factory-made CLT panels are assembled on site.
KiNEMAKI has a multilayer structure consisting of CLT panels, cushioning material and fire-resistant covering material to absorb impacts, and damaged sections can be replaced one panel at a time. The use of domestic timber is expected to provide carbon sequestration benefits, while the finish makes use of the natural wood grain to bring warmth to logistics spaces.
KiNEMAKI was first adopted at Mitsubishi Estate's Logicross Misato logistics facility in Misato, Saitama Prefecture, and is expected to be marketed more widely at logistics facilities and warehouses nationwide.
KiNEMAKI is said to substantially reduce the construction process compared with conventional concrete products, while its multilayer structure of CLT panels, cushioning material and fire-resistant covering material is designed to absorb impacts.
