Mid-sized chemical maker Tokuyama aims to make a full-scale entry into the in vitro diagnostics market by using antigen, antibody and particle technologies from JSR's diagnostics and materials business. The company plans to continue acquiring missing technologies through M&A.
Tokuyama aims to make a full-scale entry into the diagnostics field by using technologies including antigens, antibodies and particles acquired in 2025. The company plans to expand its business by capturing the high-margin in vitro diagnostics market.
The addition of technologies and know-how for commercializing antigens, antibodies and reagents, which had been lacking alongside the company's particle and surface-analysis technologies, is expected to put in place the framework for market entry.
The company will continue to use M&A to acquire missing technologies, with plans to increase total life sciences revenue approximately threefold from about ¥49.4 billion in the fiscal year ending March 2026 to about three times that amount in the fiscal year ending March 2036.
The targets are expected to include expansion in life sciences businesses such as diagnostics and dental equipment.
