On 26 September 2026, 日本特種ボディー’s camper van “EXPEDITIONSTRIKER (エクスペディションストライカー)” won the Audience Award in the business category of the Phase Free Award 2026, and the awards ceremony was held. Representative director Hachiya Shingo (蜂谷愼吾) attended the ceremony, where the award based on a public vote was announced.
Hachiya explained the design concept behind EXPEDITIONSTRIKER: it provides a comfortable living space for travel and leisure in everyday life, while in a disaster it can be used on rough roads, provide power, and serve as a self-sufficient living space. He also discussed the vehicle’s purpose, including its ability to supply stored electricity to people nearby, making it potentially useful during emergencies.
The Phase Free Award judges recognized the vehicle’s design for both everyday and emergency use, its improved fuel economy through weight reduction, ease of maneuvering in urban areas, and off-road capability. The judges viewed its “appeal that makes people want to use it every day” as contributing to peace of mind in emergencies and assessed EXPEDITIONSTRIKER’s design concept positively.
Following the public-vote award, Hachiya Shingo (蜂谷愼吾) said he was honored that the vehicle had been recognized by so many people. He expressed the view that, in the future, the value of choosing a camper van could include not only everyday enjoyment but also its usefulness in emergencies.
