The new plant is expected to have annual production capacity of approximately 450,000 tonnes. Once completed, it will establish a production system for high-value-added steel sheets used in automotive components.
Hot-dip galvanized steel sheet production capacity will increase to 4.95 million tonnes. The plant is also scheduled to produce low-carbon steel sheets in conjunction with electric furnaces and wide products for SUVs.
The investment is part of POSCO’s strategy to expand its automotive steel sheet business, and attention is expected to focus on the future operating status of its production lines and the impact on the market.
