MIXI's lifestyle business has contracted to 10% of total revenue, while its sports business, expanded following the success of Monster Strike, has reached nearly 40% of the revenue mix. In overseas markets, the company is expanding internationally by making PointsBet a subsidiary, while continuing to develop multiple sources of revenue centered on sports.
MIXI grew from its early-stage social networking service, mixi, but as smartphone advertising expanded and conventional advertising declined, the social networking service ceased to be a core business, although it continues to operate. A new social networking service, mixi2, was also launched in 2024.
The hit success of Monster Strike marked a turning point in the company's recovery, and the digital entertainment business, driven primarily by in-app purchase revenue, led growth. Revenue expanded from ¥112.9 billion in the fiscal year ended March 2015 to ¥208.7 billion in the fiscal year ended March 2016, but digital entertainment growth has slowed in recent years, with digital entertainment revenue amounting to ¥83.889 billion in the fiscal year ending March 2026.
In 2019, the company advanced into businesses related to public sports betting, acquiring all shares of Chariloto.com and making netkeiba.com a subsidiary. It expanded its business base in the sports field through the launch of TIPSTAR and the integration of public sports betting information and wagering services. In the 2020s, it also entered the operation of professional sports teams, including Chiba Jets Funabashi and Tokyo Football Club.
In September 2025, MIXI made Australia's PointsBet Holdings a subsidiary and entered overseas markets. It plans to leverage PointsBet's betting technology and customer base in combination with its domestic communication functions. For the fiscal year ending March 2026, revenue rose 10.7% year on year to ¥171.369 billion. Sports accounted for 38.4% of the revenue mix following the consolidation of the business, digital entertainment for 49.0% and lifestyle for 10.0%. Going forward, the company aims to accelerate the rise in the sports business's share and its overseas expansion, building a revenue base supported by multiple pillars.
